EJcamp, day 2

“You are selected because I believe in you.” -Camper Booklet

Sorry for the looooooooooooooong hiatus! Been caught up with so many things. So yeah let’s get ze throwback rolling 😉 So yes, day 2. I woke up to the beautiful scenery at our back door of our chalet/dorm early in the morning. It was so peaceful and relaxing. image After we had our breakfast, we took a quick morning walk and took some pictures before the awesome talk that morning. image Guess who came for the building confidence talk? SHARIFAH AMANI. Yes, you read that right, SHARIFAH AMANI. Lol, we’ve met before. We’re cool man, psh. *cough* YES, SHARIFAH AMANI! She gave us a very inspiring talk, in fact I felt it was more like a sharing moment 🙂 image I love the way they positioned the seats into a circle-like so it gave us more intimate and closeness sense with the speaker. The talk was focus on how to build our confidence. The speaker (read: SHARIFAH AMANI omg i can’t help it) was saying that everyone will go through phases in their lives (I’m rephrasing fyi) She shared her experience in acting when she was young and how did she figured out what she want to do in her life. She did mention how wonderful the late Yasmin Ahmad and their experience working together. I personally like it when she told us that whatever other people think about you is not important but what matter in your life is the relationship between you and God. Have faith in Him and He will have faith in you.

‘Kalau Dia kata jadi, jadilah. Kalau Dia kata tak jadi, tak jadilah beb.’ – Sharifah Amani.

Your intentions. image After ze inspiring talk, we had lunch! annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd another awesome talk after that by the beautiful mdm Jasmine Hassan! Communicate! I love how she started her talk with this video! Check it out! worth it.

The beautiful lady told us how to communicate especially during presentations in the class. Express yourself! utilize your body language! I remembered she told us that one of her students (yes, she’s teaching at UTP. Lucky those students.) screamed just to chill down her nervousness before her presentation. Learn how to understand yourself, slowly you will get a hang of it and relax while communicating with everyone else. Seriously, it was awesome. You should follow her on twitter for more tips and tricks 😀 (@jsmnhssn) image “capture your audience’s attention.” – Jasmine Hassan

SO WE DECIDED TO FLY THAT EVENING! image image image

Funny story was, me, Aika and Hanies thought we should wait at the flying fox hut. So we walked and climbed the hill for a bit and waited ._. nearly half an hour. To turn out everyone else had briefing by the lake ._. we’re like, since we’ve waited (and dying to dip ourselves in that cold sexy river) YOU KNOW WHAT WE WILL FLY FIRST! Yassss, We flew beautifully and jumped into the river!!

Another funny story. Well, the others said they will join us at the river later and……to turn out they didn’t managed to find us and chillaxed at another part of the river……….so… yeah ._. BUT ME, AIKA, HANIES AND NASY WERE HAVING FUN! On such a hot day, dipping our bodies in icy cold river. That was the best decision ever. Alhamdulillah.

We finally retreated to our tents and chalets to clean ourselves up and dinner. Bumped into Anwar Hadi at the dinner table. He’s cool. image We’re not done yet, people. Yup, Expression Night with Jamal Raslan that night! Jamal Raslan, the man of the spoken words. I knew him from the Poetry Workshop by the Lip Movement Poetry at Kaki Seni Space.

“Do you know that the word ‘rap’ comes from the word ‘rhythm and poetry’?” – Jamal Raslan.

I remembered how everyone else was mindblown by his spoken words piece and Nasy came out with “As educational as my last breakup”. Dayum girl, that hit me deep. Deep. We played games. It was beautiful. image image We ended nearly 11-ish. WE’RE NOT OVER YET. NA’AH. CAAAAMPFIRE TIMEEEE BEBEH! image We grilled jumbo sausages, (and I gave the idea of Smoreos to Keren. YES THAT WAS ME MUAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH) we toasted marshmallows and I saw Wan Arief Imran was munching a bag of marshmallows to himself. lol. We sang along on mp3 list (Which Aika and Keren kindda had a debate on who got to control the playlist. lol) While Anwar Hadi danced and sang at the back (Surprisingly he knew like every song….it’s like there’s a lyric archive inside his mind idk) We laughed and had fun. Me and Aika gave up around 4 am because we kindda need sleep to prepare ourselves for the activity later at 8 am. image image To be continued 😉

EJcamp, day 1

“What I’m really trying to say is that the rise and fall of this camp is up to you”
– CampMaster’s Booklet

Day 1

Honestly, I was really excited. I packed up and waited for Ardini and Puteri (CampMasters that I haven’t met in real life fyi but they’ve decided to pick me up (‘: I MEAN HOW CAN STRANGERS BE SO NICE I KRI) and off to Yayasan Peneraju office for one final briefing with the organizers and CampMasters before the real deal rolling in.

Social Media peeps (Poh and Aika) and Haki 😀

image

I’m amazed with the fact that most CampMasters are total strangers (Except Aika, Qayyum, Daniel and Wan Arief Imran lol been facing them for……..centuries?) and surprisingly, we all can get along really well. Dude, to work with someone you don’t know is a challenge!

Finally, after Jumaat prayer, we were all ready to get rolling!

The riddle for the Campers were given by the @englishjer the night before;

“Dear Campers, your first task for #EJcamp is to solve this riddle & find us tomorrow. See you across *American royalty. Good luck.”

THEY MANAGE TO SOLVE THE RIDDLE AWWYEAHH.

*across the Burger King.

Off we go! Some of CampMasters are needed to be there earlier than the Campers in order to check out the place and everything.

First car to go straight to the camp site!

The moment we reached the Nur Laman Bestari camp site, my phone’s line were gone (most of us, I think) and the place was mindblown.

our Food and Beverages guy, Daniel!

blablabla getting ready blablablabla dinner blablablabla FINALLY A MOVIE SESSION!

image

we played ice-breaking games first, 2 truth and 1 lie.

image

Tell your teammates any 3 facts that consist of 2 truthful facts and 1 deceitful fact about yourself and they have to guess which one is true or false. Discovering your teammates, eh? I kid you not, the facts from my teammates that I’m getting were unexpected. FINALLY A MOVIE SESSION!

Well not really a movie session since the outdoor activity coach, Pak Long has to brief something so that everyone is mentally and physically ready for the outdoor activities sessions. A bit time consuming but it was a fruitful briefing.

While the movie (Dead Poets Society) was playing on the screen, the CampMasters and Campers finally meeting up and getting to know each other and also discuss on their essays.

Mind you, the objective of #EJcamp is to help out the campers developing their essays (If I were a Minister of Education… essay). The Campers were signed up into pairs for each CampMasters. Interestingly, most of the pairs have different views and points from each other. This will help them to get more pumped up discussing their perspectives. Of course, essays are not only our main concern, the main idea was to get everyone (by everyone, Campers and CampMasters and even the coach. yes, everyone) to be motivated, to be inspired to learn new things and continue learning as knowledge is never-ending.

In my case, my campers were amazing! Even though I’m pretty awkward at first (an awkward potato to be exact) but we managed to discuss not only about the essay, we did discuss about the education system, culture, fine arts, animals and after a while, a CampMaster Aika requested to join in. The more, the merrier! and I remember one of the Campers mentioned how he loves the culture of freedom. It took us quite some time and it ended pretty late.

Most of us decided to call it a day as the next day will be a long day!

(But some of us had a campfire after that without telling us that they’re planning to have one 😦 lol)

To be continued…
